Living Life to the Fullest

Living Life to the Fullest

Living life to the fullest?  What exactly does that mean?  Does it mean crossing off all the goals on your list?  Does it mean relaxing and doing nothing?  Or is it running a marathon, or helping others?  What's important to you at this moment?  This might have a different meaning for all of us.  What's important to you right now, may also change in five years.  As of now, my current goal is spending quality time with my husband.  That's what is important to me now, and that's how I'm going to live my life to the fullest.  I'm not saying spending time with my little family.  That's a no-brainer.  I'm saying, spending time with my husband especially now that we have a toddler and that we don't have much alone time together.  Once you have a child, that quiet alone time is lost.  Even though you gain something special and bigger than the two of you, the relationship changes forever.

It just so happens we're in Italy right now with our extended family and leaving for London later today.  One of the days during this trip we got super lucky and left our two-year-old with the family and toured Rome all by ourselves.  We were able to have a conversation that didn't revolve around us teaching our small child how to behave.  Not only that, prior to arriving to Italy, we had plans to go to all these historical sites, and before two years ago, that's exactly what we would have done.  I would have had a checklist of all these places we wanted to see, checking them off one by one.  I'm now a different person and traveling is different for me.   At this moment in my life, it's just about spending quality time together and having an actual conversation while trying to unplug.

Speaking of trying to unplug, having a day without my cell phone is actually pretty liberating.  For all of us who are starting our own blogs or businesses, we have this issue where we're always on our computers or phones whether we're researching something to help improve our business, or on social media.  Sometimes it's hard to find that balance, but if I were to die tomorrow (sorry for the morbid thought), I would have wished that I had spent more quality time with my family, especially my husband, rather than being on my phone.  Some of my most memorable days with my husband have been times when we didn't have any cell service, like our trip to Rome.  You get my point.

Live Life to the Fullest

So think about it.   How are you going to live your life to the fullest today?  What are you going to do today that you'll regret if you don't do tomorrow?  Is it taking care of a sick grandparent?  Is it getting up and running six miles every morning?  Is it starting your own business?  Is it hiking Machu Picchu?

Leave me a message in the comment's section on how to live your life to the fullest.  I would love to read all about it.  :)

Ciao for now, Shelbi
